The School of Dance
The Association of Diffusion of Gestural Dance was started 25 years ago. As a professional choice the association proposes only Courses of Gestural Dance and holds a final dance recital intended to be stimulating and formative for students who regularly attend the courses beginning September 15th and ending the June 15th. Everyone interested in dance can participate in the courses - from professionals to those who study to become professionals, to those who live the dance as pure passion. Lessons on the technique of Contemporary Dance are given to all students. However only from about the age of 11 does the fundamental learning of “the specific” direction of the school begin: analysis of the gesture and the expressiveness of the body seen as a nonverbal language and thus as a universal language. The Association obtained membership in the Federation of Dance - AIDAP (Italian Dance Association Activity of Production) on April 18, 2002. Dance is lived and taught, not as technical virtuosity, but as communication: transmission of dreams and knowledge by the immense communication capacity of the bodily gesture. The young women who participate in the course are stimulated by interpersonal communication. Group choreographies are selected wherein every single student is stimulated to give the best of her potential; everyone is an essential interpreter in the construction of the ballet. In fact the work on the individual brings out her full personal capabilities, not only technical, but above all, sensorial - all of which has the aim of cohesion with the group as a whole. To better read this bodily message facial expression needs to be eliminated: the face must be an indifferent point of the action. Consequently the exigency of a mask has come about. This mask has been studied and made solely for this purpose by the “MASKS AND GESTURAL STRUCTURES CENTER” of Amleto Sartori.
